Google's web spam head Matt Cutts informed us via Search Engine land that Google has slightly modified its linking strategy about widget links. The alteration to the linking guideline is now very precisely explained. Matt Cutts suggest placing a nofollow tag within widgets.

Afterwards he gave the explanation and said that many people are not much aware about widget's functionality when they add them to their website. Widget may add unwanted link back (such as a poll) without a nofollow tag. Google ignores or gives no value to these kinds of links as they are sometimes hidden, low quality and appear in many other websites. Google clearly mentioned their approach in their publisher's guidelines.

As per as the new guidelines set by Google SEO.co.in is considering that putting dofollow links in widget is an outdated practice and would avoid that strategy from now on.
